With its cooler days and crisp nights, bright autumn foliage, and festive atmosphere, fall has become a favorite season of many. It’s a time of letting go and embracing change, of slowing down and cozying up. Fall holidays bring a sense of fun as families and friends gather and celebrate.

From scrapbook pages and cards to holiday decorations, it’s no surprise that the atmosphere, colors, and traditions of the season have become an inspiration for crafters. To kick off the season, we’ve curated some of our favorite fall color palettes to help inspire your seasonal craft projects.

PERFECT FALL COLOR COMBOS USING INK & PAPER

The best part about fall colors is that they shift throughout the season—from the bright and vibrant colors of early fall to the earthy and rich tones of late fall. No matter your preference or style, you’re sure to find a jumping-off place for your next ink and paper craft.

EARLY FALL COLOR COMBO

First up is our color palette inspired by early fall. This is a time of vibrancy when the foliage is bursting to life with color. It is also a time of harvest, when pumpkins are picked from the vine and gray afternoons are filled with the rich, earthy smells of the season.

MID FALL COLOR COMBO

As the season progresses, the bright, vibrant colors of fall are replaced by richer, muted tones. These shades evoke the warmth of the season. Think of reading a book by the fire on a crisp night or enjoying a slice of pumpkin pie at the end of a meal with friends.

ELEGANT HALLOWEEN COLOR COMBO

It’s hard to think about fall without thinking about Halloween. From scarecrows to witches and everything in between, the festivities surrounding Halloween serve as a perfect inspiration for any craft project.

LATE FALL COLOR COMBO

Late fall marks another shift as the warmth of the season begins to transition to the chill of winter. This color palette is marked by colors that reflect reduced daylight and cooler days. Think of trees that have lost their leaves, long shadows, and frosted mornings.

TECHNIQUES FOR CREATING SEASONAL CRAFTS

If you love these fall color palettes but still aren’t sure where to start, try using one of these craft techniques or elements to add texture and life to your next seasonal craft.

TEXTURED LEAVES FOR SCRAPBOOK PAGES

Autumn leaves are one of the first things people think of when they imagine fall. Bring that element of the season to life by adding textured leaves to your next scrapbook page or card. You can do this by using our Autumn Leaves Dies to cut out a variety of leaf sizes and shapes in a few of your favorite fall colors. From there, you can add depth and texture by stamping on details using the Autumn Leaves Photopolymer Stamp Set, as seen in the example below. However you choose to do it, let classic fall colors and shapes act as a starting point for your next autumn craft.

USE STAMPS AND DIES TO ADD COLOR AND LAYERS

Don’t be afraid to get creative with color when it comes to seasonal stamps. This helps bring your designs to life by evoking feelings of the season. You can choose a fall color palette from one of the examples above, or you can use your favorite colors to create your own.

Stampin’ Up! also creates bundles that make it easy to create a themed craft, like the Tractor & Co Bundle seen in the card below. In this example, a fall color palette stamped onto plain white cardstock brings the atmosphere of the harvest to life. Next, the stamped images have been cut out using dies to add texture and depth to the scene.

LAYER EMBELISHMENTS TO BUILD VISUAL INTEREST

Sometimes, you can use all the right colors and shapes and still feel like your craft is falling flat. When this happens, try adding embellishments to complement and enhance your design. For example, the image below incorporates gold foil, two-tone cardstock that was embossed using a folder, and then distressed, along with twine and sequins, to enhance the other seasonal elements already featured in the design.
