Handmade Gratitude: Thanksgiving Place Cards DIY
Thanksgiving is more than just a meal (but don’t think for one second that we don’t look forward to all of that cozy comfort food, because we absolutely do!) it’s a wonderful opportunity to gather together with our friends and loved ones to take a day to connect in the spirit of gratitude.
Gratitude and appreciation are such an important part of what we do here at Stampin’ Up! “Thank you!” is a message that can be expressed every day and has the ability to make the biggest impact on the recipient. Gratitude is often the art of seeing things that might otherwise go overlooked or unnoticed. And noticing and recognizing our friends and loved ones is a sure path to connection.
One sweet way that you can incorporate a little recognition into your holiday meal is by decorating your table with some easy Thanksgiving place cards. These handmade Thanksgiving decorations are a subtle and meaningful way to tell your guests that you’ve been looking forward to sharing this day with them.

How to Create DIY Thanksgiving Place Cards
It’s easier than you think to make DIY place cards for Thanksgiving. We’ve broken it down into four simple steps you can follow to create your holiday masterpieces.
1. Design
Designing your custom place card is admittedly the hardest (but most fun!) step because there are endless possibilities when it comes to designs for Thanksgiving place cards. We suggest you start by narrowing down your concept so it’s easier to get to your final design. Here is where you decide if you want to incorporate a fall accessory like a gourd, pine cone, leaves, or wood cut circle to your design, or if you want to lay the place cards on the plates, make them stand on their own, or wrap them around the napkins or utensils. There’s no right or wrong answer.
2. Cut and Prep Materials
Henry Ford was onto something when he invented the assembly line. If it’s good enough to build an automobile, it’s good enough for Thanksgiving place cards. Cutting and prepping all of your materials at the same time is the first step in the assembly line and an efficient way to make DIY place cards. Not only will you save time, but prepping everything at once will also make them more uniform.
3. Assemble
Now it’s time to put the “assemble” in the assembly line. With all of your Thanksgiving place cards cut and prepped, you can now put them together and make your design come to life.
4. Personalize
If you’re adding names or special messages to your place cards, now is the time to do it. Finish each one off with a personalized touch to make it extra meaningful.
Creating custom place cards for Thanksgiving is easy. You can make them as intricate or simple as you want. It’s a simple way to show your guests you care.
